I'm sure you really don't want our class party plans to go wasted. I hope you guys still remember what to bring and all that, but nevermind. Once this date thing gets done, I'll post all the junk you need to know up here. Let's just fix a date. Since the last class party date was fixed on a Wednesday, lets do same. How 'bout 13th Dec? Or 20th Dec? I guess the 6th is too near and the 27th is too near the start of school and X'mas. Opinions? If the group of people who frequent this blog have nothing against these dates, then we'll run it down the relay syst.

Okay, here's the stage plan.

The little rectangle with Claire behind it is the curtain of the toilet. Michelle Y and Brenda will be holding it up.

The ones missing from the list, do not fear. You ARE in the play, but you will be doing other things.

Louise and Joelle, you will be the Pianists.

Ying Ying, Esther, Sing Yee:

Esther and Sing Yee, you will be holding up a large blue bedsheet. Ying Ying will be holding a toy boat (I'll bring it) and holding it over the blue bedsheet. This way, it looks like a ship on the sea.

You will come onstage when Wen Fei begins singing the first stanza. When she finishes singing that stanza, you can go backstage. Tadah!

Marylyn, Shimin, you both know what to do.

The girls who are lined at the back, please take note of your positions. You will be standing there for the entire play/musical.

As the scene opens, please talk to each other and make as much noise as possible. This serves as the crowded marketplace noise. However, when Wen Fei comes in and clings to the table, STOP TALKING IMMEDIATELY. This is when I start introducing the musical.

The moment I go backstage, the scene resumes. However, the shopkeepers will begin their lines, so those at the back can just pretend to talk.

Sing as loudly as you can. Do your best.

SCRIPT

[Scene opens to a busy China market.]

[Girls backstage make a lot of noise, talking to each other, mostly in Chinese.]

(E staggers in, looking ready to throw up. E staggers over to a table and leans against it to keep steady.)

[Scene freeze. Silence. N come onstage.]

N – Imagine. You’ve just been sailing for three whole months on rough choppy waters, far away from the comfort of your home in Europe, to a strange, foreign land. You don’t understand the culture, the ways, the language of the people here, and you’re suffering from a horrifying bout of seasickness that’s twisting and turning your stomach. Imagine that, and you may have an idea of what our dear friend here, is experiencing. Yes, welcome to his life, and welcome, to China.

MS – Dunhuang! (singsong voices)

[Scene resumes, N leaves]

SK1 – (nasal voice) Come, come, sir! Look at this lovely container! Velly high quality, yah! Come from overseas some more…
[Voice trails off as E seizes the bucket and vomits into it.]

SK1- (forced smile) Eet’s okay, Eet’s okay, come, I show you something else, all velly velly cheap one!

[E looks harassed and glances around frantically for means of escape as SK1 drags him towards his store]

E – Um, I’d rather not, really, I really have to go and, oh, I’m sorry about the bucket, I’ll get it cleaned if you-

[Cut off by SK2]

SK2 – Ah, Sir! How are you today, hmm? I see your face has problem! Ah, very bad problem indeed! [Pokes at E’s face] [E backs off sharply]

E- [annoyed] There’s nothing wrong with my face!

SK2 – Ah yes! Your Qing Chun Dou (pimples)! Oh, horrible, horrible! Come, I sell you face products for your Lian Pi (skin)! [face-jab]

E – Hey, stop that, you-!

SK3 – [runs over] COME! GET YOUR VEGETABES HERE! Come from North China, all very fresh! Sir, sir! Come, try try! Buy two get one free!

SK4 – Good afternoon sir! Come, I show you this lovely dress! Velly pretty. Can buy for girlfriend!

[Shopkeepers crowd around E.]

SK1 – Come!

SK2- No, here!

SK3 – Shampoo!

SK4 – Pretty dresses!

[Shopkeepers all start talking at the same time until E screams]

E – STOOOOOOP!!

[Shopkeepers freeze.]

E – [sighs]

For months I have been sailing
Across the soapy sea
The oil on it has grown much more
Since I was only three

I’ve been to several toilets
And I lost the urge to pee
As every single toilet here
Has little privacy

[While singing this verse, E walks towards the curtain/bed-sheet with the sign TOILET on it. Two girls, dressed in black, will be holding it up. As E draws back the curtain, there will be one girl sitting on a chair (serving as a toilet bowl) holding up newspapers that are covering her up. As the curtain is drawn, she yells “DO YOU MIND?” and E let’s the curtain fall back sheepishly.]

These pesky shopkeepers screech and squawk
They pull my hand, my hair, my tee
They stab fingers into my face
That are most sickeningly grimy

(Spoken) But if there’s one thing I do detest, it’s the Language. Oh, the language!

[Shopkeepers suddenly begin speaking rapidly in Chinese. E claps sharply to make them freeze. Begins speaking again.]

Well people, do you see the terrible horror now?!

MS –
The language is torture to speak!
With four intonations and pronunciations

E-
My tongue, it twists, it twiggles and tweaks!
And leaves a tingling sensation!

MS -
The language is shrill, so shrill, so high
The men have unbroken voices to the sky

E -
I cannot master it! I’m ready to cry
And I still speak it like a freak!

[As E stops singing, suddenly the scene completely freezes. Everyone stops moving completely.]

[Muses begin singing Pretty Woman.]

[Mary walks in with her little Lamb. Three male passersby watch her walk by, and she stops to wave. They swoon and wave back. Their girlfriends are annoyed. As such, one is slapped, one is smacked on the head and one is dragged away by his ear.]

[N enters. While she talks, Mary walks by, stopping at stalls to look at goods, causing more and more male passersby to swoon, faint, or go GAGAGAGA.]

N – Yes, the lovely young woman there is Mary and her little Lamb. She was always quite the charmer, and with a flick of her long, silky hair, she’d have the men all eating out of her palm, twisted around her little finger. Plus, her lamb is absolutely adorable with its fleece as white as snow! Don’t you agree?

[N exits. E leans over and asks a shopkeeper about Mary.]

E – Er, excuse me but, who is that GORGEOUS woman over there?

SK4 – That is Mary and her little lamb. She’s very pretty, isn’t she? And she’d look even prettier in one of my pretty dresses, no?

[E ignores SK4 and begins trailing after Mary]

E - (Dreamily) Oh, Chinese!

MS-
Ah! What a wonderful, beautiful language
And those who speak it so wise

E-
Including of course the fine young lady
Whom I must marry before my demise.
My heart! My soul! This is extraordinary!
The lady has got me ensnared!
Mary, Mary, extraordinary,
Marry me or my heart shall tear.

[E hurries up to Mary and grasps her hand. She turns around, surprised, big eyes blinking]

E - I have struggled in vain and I can bear it no longer. I have fought against my better judgment, the differences in our races, and I'm willing to put them aside and ask you to end my agony. I love you. Most ardently. Marry me and have my most noble offspring, Mary.

Mary – [Blinks. Looks angrily back at E. Begins yelling in Chinese.]

[As she finishes screaming, N comes on stage and begins translating what she just said.]

N – Translate! Translate!

[Mary turns and begins walking off. E chases after her.]

E – Oh, but Mary! My one and only! Come back to me and marry me, Mary! Oh, Mary! (Falls to his feet, flipping through a dictionary furiously.) Wo…Ai…Ni.

Mary – (Turns around. Looks at him sweetly, holding her hand to her chest in an “Awww” moment.)

[Then, she stomps on his hand and stalks off.]

E- [Writhes in pain] Oooohhh…They make…the shoes…much sharper in China…[Falls over]

SY, we just plain rock.

First the talentime.

THEN THE DEBATE.

YOU CANNOT IMAGINE MY HAPPINESS!!
(Okay, maybe you can, but hey.)

It was quite horrifying, I must admit. I fumbled at the beginning, forgot my case division (which the debate senior/judge was kind enough to remind me of after the debate) and squished the ending with a weak "Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope you will support the proposition." AUGH.

Samantha was just so cute. She gets worked up when she starts rebutting, which I find somewhat amusing (with no offense meant, really) and she starting shouting a little. The debate senior/judge also did not fail to mention that "shouting on the floor is discouraged" after the debate. But despite the hiccups at the beginning, she was still very good and very spirited and very "LET'S WIN THIS DAMN DEBATE". It was very encouraging.

I still think the best bit was when she rebutted a point from PE, which was about how women have monthly periods, and therefore would be inconvenienced.

Samantha's point?

"We may have monthly periods, but men still have to shave!"

I'm sorry Sammy. BUT IT WAS JUST SO FUNNY.
I still laugh when I think about it.

Joelle, you seemed nervous. Really nervous. With the mumbling and shuffling through the pages of your book and asking to sit on the table before deciding to stand up again and go through a lot of hooha. But you still pulled through, gave good points, and what's more, YOU STILL GOT BEST SPEAKER AWARD. YOU ROCK, JOEY! YOU AND YOUR HALF-ORANGE-HALF-YELLOW LOLLIPOP which you happily relished throughout the debate. Oi, no eating in class.

The dancers were fantastic, the singers sang beautifully, and we pulled off the wayang kulit amazingly.

And it's been postless for awhile. Thanks to Marylyn for, er, giving us a free picture show. JOHNNY DEPP ALL OVER DA PLACE. Captain Jack Sparrow. (I think you'll like the 4GY blog, Marylyn. Anyhoo, the Chinese Talentime is coming up. WE ARE GOING TO WIN THIS. I HAVE A WOODEN SWORD AND ALL SHALL BOW DOWN TO ME.(Yes, I do have a wooden sword. Got a problem with that?)

So I'm on high. It's the chicken, I tell you. They have weird enzymes in the that cause a high equivilent to a caffeine-sugar high. WHICH IS SCARY. RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!

Or maybe it's because I just feel like livening up this boredomized blog. Nothing like random posts on high to tweak and frilly it up a little.

BOO! hello everyone! Joy, i'm very supportive of what you do for the class. THANKS a great deal.
Okay. I really want to remind everyone that no eating in class unless the teacher allows you to do so. firstly, you can get booked! Secondly, ants will invade our calssroom and i don't want our classroom cleaniness to get affected too. well, i'm sure everyone wants to study in a nice clean classroom, definitely not an unsightly one.
Secondly, no usage of electronic devices during and after school hours in the classroom. You are to switch off your electronic devices. (at least silent it but you are supposed to off it anyway.)
I really seek your co-operation in obeying the rules of SCGS. Thank you. Have fun at school!

Right. I hate to get all class reppy and annoying, but this is the only way I can actually get the message around.

Electrical devices of any kind are prohibited during class time, regardless of lesson, period, or whether there is a teacher in the class or not. This includes Ipods (shuffle, mini, nano. Whatever), handphones, and any device that works on any type of electricity (it can be charged or on battery for all I care). Permission from the teacher presently in class must be obtained before the usage of such devices. Calculators are allowed, but we all know that already.

The girls who have been listening to their Ipods in class, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Please stop doing so for your own sake, the penalty for being caught using electrical devices during school hours in the classroom is 2 demerit points and confiscation of the electronic device for three months.

We don't want that happening, no?

So stop. Just stop.

I've decided to start something up on this blog.
It should be quite fun.

Now. Write up a few random facts about yourself and post them. This is something along the lines of an icebreaker, just that you can post whatever you want, the weirder the better.

Now! I'll start the ball rolling.

- I scare myself to death by thinking about random scary things. At night.

- I scream a lot. At home, of course. With a brother who chases you with his socks, who wouldn't?

- I love fictional characters. Such as the ones from my anime, from books, from movies, whatever. Fictional characters rock. And they're HANDSOME. SQUEE!

- I read gay stuff. No offense or anything. And no, I do not need therapy.

- I sing. Fear me.

- I squeal when I find things I really want. In the process, I've scared quite a number of random people.

-I love poetry. As if you didn't know already.

-My weight is a VERY sensitive issue. AHEM.

today was our class' firsthome econs lesson. i think it is like.. once a week or sumthing. yeah. we were split into 2 groups. but i think both did sewing. then we got our home econs book published by the school and aprons. we are supposed to sew and decorate our names on the apron. that's the homework. quite tough for me. well, it's a challenge, looking at it positively. :)) haha. and we are supposed to write a commonwealth essay. guess that's really all!

there's actually nuthin much to talk about..
school:
well, the building is big to many (not me since i was from sc pri). the rules are extremely STRICT. even i think so. this is not fair! haha. no offence, prefects and teachers. the rest is generally quite ok.
teachers:
our form teacher is the greatest of all! she's... mrs karen chia!! hiphip hoorayy! and our superb co-op teacher is ms soh! they are both great teachers. i suppose the whole class agrees.
classmates:
of course they are nice! most are from a wide variety of primary schools but that doesn't prevent us from making new friends!
i suppose that is all i have to say...
